At Inquiry Charter School, we’re changing the way we approach education.

The mission of Inquiry Charter School is to educate all students in methods that encourage creativity, support problem solving and produce life-long learners. We believe that how one learns is as important as what one learns. At Inquiry Charter School, we believe that all students, teachers and community members are learners.

Our values:
Curiosity - We ask questions!
Generosity - We take care of each other!
Growth - We try to do better!

The teachers at INQUIRY Charter School are trained by the Children's Literacy Initiative in how to implement many different literacy based methods of instruction. Our teachers use Message Time Plus, a modeled writing approach, to instruct our children in different writing approaches as well as focus upon differentiated focus needs for each child. Visit to find out more.
The teachers use the workshop model to teach both reading and writing skills. The workshop model allows children of all levels to make progress, as the teachers differentiate their instructions by conferencing with each student.
Our teachers also differentiate instruction through guided reading which improves each child's reading skills. We also have reading specialists available for children that need additional reading support.
INQUIRY Charter School values quality literature, and uses these books to not only develop a love of literature in our students, but also to teach comprehension skills and new content. Each month our children focus upon an award winning children's author. They learn about this author's style and gain a better understanding of how literature is created. Each classroom has individual classroom libraries and student tablets to access quality and leveled books throughout the day. Students also receive Lending Library books each week as part of their homework. You can find our monthly curricular themes and author studies in here.
At INQUIRY our students learn math using the Singapore math approach. This approach teaches children to solve math problems by first using hands on concrete models, then moves to pictorial representations and finally abstract methods.
We encourage our students to use the inquiry method when studying science. Our students do weekly hands on explorations, where they are helping to lead the instruction with their questions and their discoveries. Their science learning extends to each class' weekly trips to the Concourse Lake in Fairmount Park, where kids explore the plants, wildlife, and seasonal changes.
